Seollal Holiday Day 2 - Cath Kidston Vintage Cute Cafe Samcheongdong Korea - 설날 휴무일 케스키드슨카페 삼천동

Happy lunar new year everyone~
새해 복 많이 받고 건강하고 좋은 일만 가득하시길 바랍니당~

Seollal  January 1 of the lunar calendar is one of the most celebrated national holidays in Korea. This year, Seollal falls on February 19 of the Gregorian calendar. Seollal is truly a special occasion for Korean people. They usually going to their hometown for paying respect to their family and ancestor, eat rice cake soup, and family pay respect to their elders by taking a deep bow called sebae, and by presenting them with gifts. Then, the elders offer their blessings and wishes for a prosperous year. Children often receive sebaetdon (New Year’s money) as a Seollal gift. Read on to discover how Koreans celebrate Seollal on KTO website

Its kind of same with the chinese new year tradition back in my country in Indonesia, but because we are more chinese like its more festive and bigger rather than here in korea. We also did the 30th day feast, without the rice cake soup and bow but some trads family did the deep bow too, and my fave things the hungpao or angpao or the red envelope, remembered me of the glorious day when i became a rich girl only on one day.. teheee.

But here in korea, its in the diffrent situation, during  Seollal holiday, the bustling city of Seoul becomes relatively quiet and peaceful, as most people leave the capital to return home or travel abroad. Streets become vacant, and many restaurants and shops close, but since some places like Bucheon hanok village, Gyeongbokgung, Changdokgung, N-Seoul tower and some other place were open, me and my friend decided to go around bucheon hanok village because i never go there before, when we walked around the village, we found this cute cafe (finally) from the famous designer Cath Kidston well known for her floral, vintage and girly design stuff and decided to take a sip of hot beverage because we already take our lunch at that time.

Cath’s Cafe serves assorted teas, coffee and desserts, but its primary function is to promote the British brand and its homewares. So beverage and dessert are served on Cath Kidston kitchenware. i dont have high expectation for the dessert until i tried the red velvet cheese cream cake, its moist, fluffy, not too sweet just fit to my tastebud, The grapefuit honey tea their popular beverage is a real grapefruit that need to ate the fruit first, and then poured hot water and added some honey which i found kind of unique. Well its a nice place to chit chatting and having some rest after a long walking, if you can’t resist floral and polka-dot patterns, Cath’s Cafe will be heaven for you and worth to check out near the area

Have a nice day
